The final day of 2017 tyre testing (from a cumulative total of 24 days) brought together all three 'mule' cars from Mercedes, Red Bull and Ferrari at the Yas Marina circuit.

These are modified 2015 cars, designed to simulate next year's new regulations that will increase speeds by five seconds per lap compared to last year.

In order to create tyres best suited to the increased loads, Pirelli has been testing a number of different compounds and structures, with the development work continuing today at Yas Marina in dry and warm conditions.

The three cars completed a combined total of 331 laps, equivalent to around 1839 kilometres or six Abu Dhabi Grand Prix distances.

Approximately 96 different prototypes were tested, with all the teams running a variety of specifications in order to maximise data collection.
Kimi Raikkonen took the wheel for Ferrari, Lewis Hamilton and Pascal Wehrlein drove for Mercedes, while Daniel Ricciardo and Max Verstappen shared driving duties at Red Bull.

"For the final test of the year, we had five F1 race drivers sample our 2017 prototypes as we completed the development programme with three cars at the same time," said Paul Hembery. "Now the hard work begins as we collate and analyse the results of our 24 days and approximately 12,000 kilometres of testing in order to define the tyres with which we will go racing next year.

"These will then be run on the actual 2017 cars for the first time during the official group tests next February.

"Our latest test went according to plan and we were able to collect the data we needed thanks to the three mule cars from Mercedes, Red Bull and Ferrari; without whom it would have been impossible to carry out this intense development programme."

Driver and team profiles are updated at the end of each year.

You want us to update them on a monthly basis, or perhaps race by race… indeed, why not lap by lap."

"Side not: I just clicked the profile of Max Verstappen and found it has not been updated since last year.
On topic: The tires are bigger which in theory means that in the wet they will generate more aquaplaining, however since the downforce will be much bigger too, and they have been able to test the tires much more this time and they will be able to make adjustments in season next year, they will perform much better than the 2016 tires."

"They float now at the site of a bit of water, whatever will happen next year ? I suppose the consolation is that if they slide far enough to actually reach the water at Melbourne, Monaco or Montreal the whole assembly will float !"
