Nico Rosberg admits that Friday's tyre failure is still weighing on his mind.

The German, who throughout Saturday was unable to find the pace he'd shown ahead of Friday's spectacular incident at Blanchimont, lines up alongside teammate Lewis Hamilton for today's Grand Prix.

However, whilst Pirelli is adamant that the tyre was damaged by external sources, possibly having been cut after the car ran over something, Rosberg isn't entirely confident.

"The problem is that we don't really understand it," he said. "There are theories but there's no real evidence so that's a bit worrying for sure.

"We're keeping a very close eye on it and we've done some measures to make sure it doesn't happen again," he added. "So we've done the best we can and just hope it all works out and stays together."

"We've spent a lot of time with Pirelli analysing what happened and really trying to tick all boxes in terms of safety and we couldn't find the problem," added team boss Toto Wolff. "So I'm pretty comfortable that it comes down to something getting into the tyre, some kind of bizarre situation but not something we could understand.

"So from that point of view we've taken all measures in order to avoid a repeat. We had a couple of limits that were set by Pirelli in terms of the tyre working mechanically and we are well within those limits and have made a step even further today."
