Teams want 2010 rules scrapped

While Max Mosley claims that he is close to agreeing a peaceful solution with FOTA over the budget row, the teams see it slightly differently, insisting that they want the proposed rules scrapped.

"Slowly we're getting to a situation where everyone is going to agree," Mosley told the BBC yesterday, after his second meeting with FOTA over the course of the Monaco GP weekend. He then admitted that the budget cap could be held off for one year before being introduced in 2011, at which time it would change from £40m to 45m euros.

However, Ferrari team boss Stefano Domenicali is adamant that there is still some way to go and it is not simply about delaying the introduction of the budget cap.

"What we have asked is to go back to the rules of this year, the 2009 rules," he told reporters following today's race. "And then see together what we can do in order to make changes for the next year."
