As previously reported, the FIA is to re-investigate the incident which saw Jarno Trulli handed a 25s penalty in the Australian GP, and has today summoned the Italian and the other driver involved, Lewis Hamilton.

The FIA is officially saying little at the moment other than admitting that a "new element" has emerged causing them to look at the incident again and speak to the two drivers involved.

Interestingly, the FIA has also summoned the stewards involved in the Melbourne hearing, Olafur Gudmundsson and Steve Chopping, while Surinder Thatti, a steward for this weekend's event will also attend, standing in for Radovan Novak.

The FIA has called the meeting under Article 179bis of the 2009 International Sporting Code, which gives it the right of review of events if "a new element" is discovered.

In a letter to McLaren, the FIA wrote: "A new element has emerged regarding the incident involving car number nine, Jarno Trulli and car number one, Lewis Hamilton, during the second safety car period of the 2009 Australian Grand Prix.

"Under Article 179bis of the 2009 FIA International Sporting Code the driver of car number one and a team representative are required to report to the stewards at 13:00 on Thursday 2nd April 2009.

In addition to Olafur Gudmundsson and Steve Chopping who were both stewards in Australia, the FIA has designated under Article 179bis Surinder Thatti as the third steward for this hearing."
