Button sends out warning to rivals, there's more to come

As F1 recovers from Brawn GP's (almost) total domination of the Australian GP weekend, Jenson Button sent out the warning that there's more to come from the Brackley outfit.

We say "almost" total domination because it was the antics of Sebastian Vettel and Robert Kubica that ultimately gave Rubens Barrichello his second place - having locked out the front row of the grid on Saturday - then again, it was only a problem with the anti-stall device on the Brazilian's car the prevented him disappearing into the distance with his teammate.

While most of us delight in the 'Fairytale of Melbourne', the irony of the realisation of Honda's impossible dream, Brawn's rivals will be fearing another whitewash next weekend in Sepang. As if to rub their noses in it, speaking in the wake of his team's convincing performance, Jenson Button warned that we haven't yet seen the best of his team.

"I'm looking forward to getting back in the car and building it into something even more special because we're not there yet," he told reporters. "It's not perfect and we didn't get the best out of it this weekend."

The Briton pointed to the fact that before this weekend, the BGP 001 has only enjoyed seven days of testing, which has impacted not only on the performance of the car but on the performance of the team, right down to things like pit-stop practice.

"It's been very difficult for everyone to be perfect," he admitted, "but there's room for improvement, and that's what I'm looking forward to achieving."

Referring to his personal feelings after such a convincing win, he said: It's weird, it's surreal in a way because it feels so normal. After winning in Hungary it felt normal. This is what I am here to do.

"You get so excited you find it difficult getting to sleep but hopefully that will pass. It's a nice problem to have."

After only one round of a gruelling seventeen race championship, some are already talking of the ultimate prize, the World Championship. However, despite the fact that the roar of the crowd is still ringing in his ears, the Champagne still in his hair, the 29-year-old refuses to get carried away.

"I'm not interested in talking about it at the moment," he says, "we need to think about getting the points on the board and then you see where you are later on in the season. You can think about changing the strategy then.

"I'm not seeking to prove anything to anyone because I know I'm good," he continued, "and now I have a competitive car hopefully we can have a competitive season. But I'm not thinking about 12 or 13 races down the line, there's no point in doing that. You need to concentrate on now and that's exactly what we are doing."
