Pakistan aiming for Top 10

A1 Team Pakistan, one of the 22 nations in the A1GP World Cup of Motorsport are heading to Shanghai in China this weekend for the penultimate round of the A1GP 2007/08 season. Adam Khan will continue in the car as the team hopes to score further points in the final two rounds of competiton.

A1GP has visited the ultra-modern Shanghai International Circuit for the past two seasons – and the high tech facility has provided winners from four different nationalities. The 4.6km Circuit is one of the most impressive in the world, designed by Hermann Tilke, it was built in 2004 and only took 18 months to construct. The one- kilometre straight at the end of the lap provides drivers with overtaking opportunities, and the first corner after the start finish straight has provided some of the most spectacular manoeuvres during an A1GP race.

A1 Team Pakistan endured bad luck at the previous two rounds in South Africa and Mexico City, with the team retiring from both the Sprint and Feature races. The promising pace shown by A1 Team Pakistan driver Adam Khan in Mexico City failed to deliver any points after suspension failure in the Sprint race and retirement in the Feature race after an incident on the final lap.

A1 Team Pakistan driver Adam Khan commented ahead of the race, "The Shanghai track is a phenomenal circuit, it has a real mix of high speed straights and slow, tight corners which requires a driver to maintain concentration throughout the whole lap. The weather in Shanghai can be quite hot and the smog can make it difficult to see the end of the straight sometimes. We will really be aiming to get some more points in the bag, we really need to show that we have had the pace this season, but just not the luck."

Seat holder Arif Hussain added, "A1 Team Pakistan will be really aiming for a top ten during this weekend. Adam has had a couple of unlucky race weekends recently but we are hoping our fortunes will change in Shanghai. The team work really hard to keep motivated, we just hope that we can have a return to the points in China."
