With the inaugural race of the World Cup of Motorsport approaching fast, the Czech Republic has signed up to join the A1 Grand Prix series confirming their national drivers at the same time.

The Seat Holder for A1 Team Czech Republic, motorsport driver and manager, Antonin Charouz, confirmed Tomas Enge, Jarek Janis and Jan Charouz as the three names that will represent their country in the first World Cup of Motorsport.

Antonín Charouz said: "It is fantastic for Czech motorsport that we have been able to get into this Series. It was not easy to get into this elite company and our good reputation built in various motorsport series including Formula One helped immensely. We are now negotiating with Czech TV stations to arrange live television coverage of the race and it is obviously a great opportunity for Czech companies to advertise around the world."

Main driver for A1 Team Czech Republic, Tomas Enge commented: "I think that the timing of the World Cup of Motorsport is excellent. Many drivers can take part thanks to the timing and the competition will be very strong. It will be interesting to see the fight between hungry youngsters and experienced drivers. New tracks represent a new challenge I always like to compete in an unknown territory. I believe that my experience will help me in the fight at the front."

Jarek Janis said: "It is definitely good for drivers that they will be racing for the whole winter and they will be able to keep rhythm. It should be a very close Series and the program of the races weekends will be very attractive for the fans."

Jan Charouz said: "I am really looking forward to A1 Grand Prix because there will be good drivers and the Series will have very colourful grid and schedule. I have heard from other drivers who have tested the car that the behaviour is similar to F3000 but the car is more powerful and I am really curious to learn how the PowerBoost will work."

Commenting on A1 Team Czech Republic's involvement in the World Cup of Motorsport, A1 Grand Prix Founder, President and Chairman, Sheikh Maktoum said: 'The Czech Republic is home to one of motorsport's classic tracks, the Brno circuit which has given the country a rich motorsport heritage. With A1 Grand Prix, I am sure that the Czech Republic will have a sound future in developing new national drivers to compete in the World Cup of Motorsport."
