As the final test before the summer break got underway, it was Toyota's Ricardo Zonta who set the pace.

The Brazilian, driving the original-spec TF104, lapped the Spanish track in 1:18.597, was 0.657 quicker that Cristiano da Matta, running the heavily-revised TF104B. However, it's understood Zonta was evaluating the latest software.

Splitting the Toyotas was Rubens Barrichello in the Ferrari. The Brazilian, at the wheel of an F2004, worked on a tyre testing and set-up programme.

Fresh from their dramatic revival at Silverstone, McLaren had Pedro de la Rosa and Alexander Wurz on duty.

Both men were at the wheel of MP4-19s, as David Coulthard runs the 19B at Silverstone.
