NEWS STORY
It was predictable that when Alexander Albon spun off just four corners into his first ever F1 test session, the headlines writers would seize their moment.
However, despite claims that the Thai driver, in only his second outing in an F1 car, had pushed a little too hard, or perhaps his tyres weren't up to grip as a result of the new tyre blanket regulations, Toro Rosso boss, Franz Tost, says that in fact it was the steering on the car thst was to blame.
"It was a steering issue," he told the official F1 broadcaster. "We changed something from yesterday to today but it didn't work out as we expected and therefore we changed once more to yesterday's version.
"There are not so many test topics today as yesterday with Daniil," he continued, the Austrian keen to give Albon time to find his feet. "We can't test so many different specifications on the car, for him it's important to drive to get experience, to learn the car to get familiar with the car.
"Next week is then another story," he added. "We will also test different set-ups with him next week. This week is more for him to do as many laps to get experience."
