Valtteri Bottas and Esteban Ocon have both escaped potential penalties for driving unnecessarily slowly during qualifying.
Both drivers were summoned by the COTA stewards after qualifying for an alleged breach of Article 27.4 of the sporting regulations, in that they drove unnecessarily slowly on their in laps.
After viewing video evidence, timing, and positioning data and hearing from both drivers, and their team representatives, the stewards deemed that both exceeded the specified maximum time between the safety car lines on their post-qualifying in laps.
The stewards closely examined both drivers in laps and found that neither driver drove unnecessarily slowly or in a manner to adversely affect any other driver.
Noting all the circumstances involved, the stewards opted to take no further action in either case.
