Less than two hours after the end of today's Italian Grand Prix, Renault lodged a protest with the Monza race stewards over the legality of Romain Grosjean's Haas.
"We confirm that Renault Sport Formula One Team has submitted a request to the Stewards of the event for clarification on the legality of the Haas F1 Team VF-18," said the French team in a brief statement. "We have no further comment on this matter until the Stewards have arrived at a decision."
Sixth place for Grosjean today saw Haas leapfrog Renault to take fourth in the Constructors' Championship, even though both are on 84 points, the American outfit having made serious progress following the introduction of the latest upgrade from Ferrari.
Unconfirmed reports suggest the protest concerns "a small detail on the leading edge of the floor".
