Following a ground-breaking and hugely exciting first year of collaboration, Red Bull Racing has announce that its Innovation Partnership with Aston Martin is to continue in 2017, with the iconic sports car brand's wings logo set to adorn the team's cars for another season of Formula One action.
Ahead of this year's season-opening Australian Grand Prix, the Team and Aston Martin announced details of a unique project - the development of the ultimate hypercar, the AM-RB 001.
A fusion of Red Bull Racing's cutting edge Formula One technology and Aston Martin's world-renowned sport car design, the AM-RB 001 was penned by Red Bull Racing Chief Technical Officer Adrian Newey in association with Aston Martin's Chief Creative Officer Marek Reichmann and Chief Special Operations Officer, David King.
And almost as soon as the ink was dry on the final design the order book for the 175 examples - including 25 track-only specials - began to quickly fill up. All 150 road-going cars are now sold and customer deliveries of the F1-inspired hypercar will begin in early 2019.
In advance of that date, the successful partnership between the two performance-oriented companies will continue through the 2017 season by the end of which a prototype of the AM-RB 001 is expected to run for the first time.
"We first conceived our Innovation Partnership with Aston Martin in the realisation that it could be truly pioneering," said Christian Horner. "In blending our distinct but unique skills under a shared creative vision, we have already seen tangible development to both of our brands and businesses. The extraordinary success of the AM RB-001 is testament to the expert and collaborative spirit in which it was forged, and extending our relationship with Aston Martin through 2017 was a simple and pleasing decision."
"By bringing together the talents of Red Bull Racing and Aston Martin, AM-RB 001 is destined to become the defining hypercar of this decade," added Aston Martin President and CEO, Dr Andrew Palmer, "and a hugely desirable investment for collectors and enthusiasts.
"Our relationship with Red Bull Racing has done for Aston Martin exactly what we expected it to do," he continued. "It is helping us to continue to build our brand across the globe. Partnerships like this are good for business both in terms of technical innovation and brand awareness, so we are pleased to continue into 2017."
