Mercedes is to trial the Halo device during FP1 at Spa-Francorchamps on Friday.
Though the controversial device will not now be introduced until 2018 - at the earliest - following the equally controversial decision by the Strategy Group not to bring it in next season, the FIA wants teams to test the Halo over the course of the remainder of the season.
Previously only Ferrari and Red Bull have tried the device, at Barcelona and Silverstone, the Austrian team having also tried its own Aeroscreen at Sochi.
The undulating roller-coaster nature of Spa will offer a very special challenge for the Halo especially at a time fears are being raised over visibility, one driver having expressed concern that it could block out the view of the start lights.
It is understood Nico Rosberg will run the device during FP1 tomorrow though it is not known whether, as on previous occasions, it will only be trialled for one installation lap.
Other teams are scheduled to test the Halo at forthcoming races though no agenda has yet been announced.
