Volkswagen Motorsport boss Jost Capito has confirmed that this weekend's Rallye Deutschland will mark his final event with the company before leaving at the end of the month however, he has given no indication of when he will be joining McLaren.
Capito's appointment as Chief Executive Officer at Woking, was announced in January, though the German made it clear he would not depart his current role until a successor was in place.
Though that successor has yet to be named, Capito has now confirmed that he will be leaving Volkswagen at the end of this month.
"Yes, I will be leaving VW at the end of this month," he told reporters ahead of this weekend's Rallye Deutschland, which, following the cancellation of Rally China, leaves a gap of almost six weeks before the Tour de Corse, the next round of the WRC.
Asked if there was anything he regrets not achieving during his time with Volkswagen, he told RallySportMag.com: "I think that every single day was special, there was no day that was not really special. I enjoyed it so much, a fantastic time, so there is nothing to regret, not one day."
It is understood that Capito will attend next week's Belgian Grand Prix with McLaren but this will be on an unofficial basis, the Woking outfit yet to confirm his official start date. Previously, Capito was with the team in Bahrain and Monaco.
