It's fair to say that the Hungaroring has matured over the last thirty years - the maiden event having taken place in 1986.
Whilst always popular with the fans it has only recently become a firm favourite of many drivers also.
Though for many years the circuit had a reputation as one where overtaking was not possible, some of the braver souls to frequent the grid over those thirty years have proven that this is not strictly true. Indeed, it’s fair to say that the Hungaroring is one of those tracks that favours the brave.
Four-time world champion Sebastian Vettel has only won here once, but that victory in 2015 remains one of his sweetest, and the German can't wait to get back there.
"Budapest is a sweet memory from 2015, when we were able to win the race after a fantastic start," said the German. "I think it’s a great place to be with a lot of fans, a lot of German speaking fans as well as fans travelling from Austria and Germany, and all the Hungarians who are usually very enthusiastic and love Formula 1 being in town.
"The track itself is quite short and often called 'the Monaco of racetracks', just lacking the walls, but you have a lot of corners, one big straight and after that a lot of corners, and not much time to rest in between.
"It makes it quite tough and physically a big challenge for the drivers, because it's quite hot and the track is bumpy, but I think overall it is a place where we love to go."
