Currently leading the drivers' championship by a healthy 39 points, his teammate, Lewis Hamilton, a further four points behind, Nico Rosberg has yet to agree a new contract for 2017 and beyond.
Whilst the usual suspects suggest all manner of possibilities, including a move to Ferrari, Mercedes non-executive director Niki Lauda admits the German team wants to keep him.
"I'm sure we want to keep Nico, and Nico wants to stay," he told Sky Sports. "I don't see any issues at all and this will be fixed very soon.
"We have to decide it in the next three weeks," he added. "This is my point of view, to let him know that we all stick together for the next couple of years."
"He's been part of the Mercedes family since the journey began in 2010," added Mercedes Motorsport boss, Toto Wolff, "he's the current championship leader, has won seven races in a row, nobody ever doubts his capabilities."
