Whilst he was not keen to discuss the current situation with his teammate and whether or not the pair have held 'clear the air' talks, indeed any talks, Nico Rosberg was at least able to admit to making the initial mistake which set the chain of events in motion.
Having made a superb move on Lewis Hamilton in the first corner to take the lead, the German was subsequently in an "incorrect power mode", which meant there was a 17kmph speed difference between the pair as Lewis Hamilton closed in to re-take the position on the run to Turn 4, the Briton having realised his teammate's situation.
However, Rosberg moved to the right to defend his position, despite the clear speed differential.
Speaking today, the German admitted that he had made the initial mistake.
"It was in the wrong position," he told reporters. "It's my job to put it in the right position and that's it. Pretty simple.
"There's not much more to say with that," he added. "In terms of formation lap and start, it's the same as always. Of course you need to think about what you're doing. There's a lot going on and that's it. You need to come up with ways of making sure that everything is done properly. That's it."
