Confirming that he is close to a deal which would see F1 return to Las Vegas, Bernie Ecclestone insists it would not be at the expense of the event at the Circuit of the Americas.
Last week the F1 supremo confirmed that he is awaiting news from organisers. "Vegas would be super," he told the Mail on Sunday. "They have a contract. I think the trouble is the pen. The organiser hasn't got a pen."
Yesterday confirmed that talks are ongoing.
"I am going to be talking to them in another ten minutes," told reporters. "It is possible that there could be an event there. They are going to have Formula E anyway."
Adding that the event is a couple of years away, he insisted that it will not be at the expense of Austin.
"We will keep Austin and have another race," he said.
Las Vegas hosted rounds of the Formula One World Championship in 1981 and 1982, both held in the car park of Caesars Palace.
