Having opened his 2016 title account where he left off in 2015, atop the podium, the German has got his championship fight off to the best possible start.
However, many believe that even if the German scores further wins in the months ahead, it is teammate Lewis Hamilton who is the favourite to claim the crown, again.
A keen football fan, Rosberg likened himself to Leicester City, the football team which looks likely to pull off one of the biggest shocks in recent times as it heads towards the Premiership title.
The clubs phenomenal run of success is not lost on Rosberg.
"Maybe I can be like Leicester City, not one of the main favourites, but win and then, well, just go," he told Sky Sports News. "I have made a good start."
Of course, teammate Lewis Hamilton is a keen Arsenal fan however, it is their north London neighbours, the mighty Tottenham Hotspur, who look best placed to threaten Leicester's dream. Take notice Nico.
Looking back on Melbourne, Rosberg said: "It was a very important win for me, a good way to start the season.
"Four wins?" he continued, referring to the winning streak that dates back to Mexico. "That may be nice, statistically, but I'm not thinking much about last year, except that it gave me a positive mood going to Melbourne.
"Now, I'm here, another race, another weekend. It was very important to start the new season with a win so, so far, perfect job!"
