Renault passes crash tests

NEWS STORY

Renault is the latest team to pass the mandatory crash tests.

The French company, which only completed its 90% buy-out of the Lotus team in December, took to Twitter to confirm the news.

"Chassis homologation: DONE," revealed the manufacturer.

Passing the tests leaves the way clear for the team to prepare for the first pre-season test which gets underway at Barcelona later next month, an impressive achievement considering the uncertainty surrounding the protracted buy-out process which, until Carlos Ghosn finally gave the all-clear, looked as though it could go either way.

Amidst claims that ART Grand Prix boss Frederic Vasseur is to become Racing Director, talk of Pastor Maldonado being dropped, due to an issue with PDVSA’s sponsorship money, has gone quiet.

The Enstone based outfit is scheduled to unveil its livery and details of its management team and (final) driver line-up at a press conference in Paris on 3 February.

As an appetiser, shortly before Renault confirmed today's news, the manufacturer released a tantalising video announcing its return to the sport, entitled "Hear us coming".
