The (third) title in the bag, it was a wholly relaxed Lewis Hamilton on duty at today's press conference, the Briton even trying out his Spanish for the locals.
Admitting that there had been a "little bit of partying" after his Austin win, but that there wasn't "too much damage", Hamilton was asked if he will assist Teammate Nico Rosberg in the fight with Sebastian Vettel for the runner-up spot.
"The team has not asked me to support him in that role as I'm here to win the race," said the Briton. "The team has won the constructors' championship so I think from here on there's not really a huge benefit for the team for me to start helping. We'll see what Toto wants me to do."
Asked if he has spoken to Rosberg following the incident at Turn 1 last week, Hamilton's response was brief and to the point.
"We haven't spoken," he said, "not that I think we really need to."
When it was pointed out that Toto Wolff has said he will probably talk to both drivers, some fearing last week could lead to an in-team feud, Hamilton's response suggests he feels the issue is with the German.
"I'm very easy going and so I never really have any problems," he said. "I think Toto feels that he needs to perhaps sit with Nico to see where his head's at.
"Obviously we don't want any tension in the team," he continued. "Generally we do often come together and just keep it transparent. I don't really have anything to say about it but of course I'm sure we will sit down and see what Nico's feeling and whatever emotions he has and try and dilute them and then move on.
"In terms of the cap thing, I don't know, it's pretty funny so I don't really have much else to say about it."
