Jenson Button has dismissed Niki Lauda's claim regarding his talks with McLaren.
Whilst the Briton holds his silence on his plans for 2016, ignoring an apparent gaffe by McLaren MD Jonathan Neale and increasingly feisty radio banter, Niki Lauda has claimed that the McLaren driver told him that the ongoing talks revolve around money and he still wishes to stay with the Woking team.
Not so, says the Briton.
"That is not true," he told reporters at Suzuka. "We spoke as I was going for a pee and I never understand him anyway, so I think I just said 'yes' to be friendly.
"We did not really have a conversation as such, but it is nice that he has gone to the media and said that though."
Asked about Neale's comments, the Briton having effectively said that Button doesn't want to drive in 2016 even though the team wants him to remain, the 2009 world champion said: "It is nice to read other people's comments from the team, for once it is not just mine which are in the press, but nothing has changed."
The highly popular driver's demeanour was not helped by a mistake by the team in terms of his engine setting.
"The only reason that I get upset is because I am passionate and I want to get everything right and I know that we have to get everything right if we stand any chance of getting into Q2," he said.
