Drivers have been warned that they will be penalised if they exceed track limit at T9 at Silverstone.
Strong winds and changing temperatures mean that we have seen cars running wide at a number of corners in the three practice sessions ahead of this weekend's British Grand prix.
However, ahead of today's all-important qualifying session, Charlie Whiting has warned that drivers who exceed the track limit at Copse (T9), which under the old track layout was T1, during qualifying, will have their time deleted.
"Further to the discussion in the drivers meeting yesterday evening I would like to inform all teams and drivers that we will be adopting a "zero tolerance" approach to cars leaving the track on the exit of turn 9 during qualifying," he wrote.
"Unless we are satisfied that a driver left the track at this point for reasons beyond his control, having been forced off the track for example, every lap time achieved by leaving the track will be deleted in accordance with Article 12.3.1.d of the Sporting Code.
"During the race, any driver who appears to have gained a clear and lasting advantage by leaving the track at turn 9, or who repeatedly leaves the track at this corner, will be reported to the stewards."
Whilst there were numerous incident yesterday, in this morning's cooler temperatures, and with the aid of a cross-wind, there were even more this morning.
