Jenson Button claims he was getting a little carried away when he made 'scare' comments in Spain.

Speaking in the wake of the Spanish Grand Prix the Briton claimed the first half of the race was the scariest of his life.

"It was pretty scary to drive," he told reporters. "Every time I touched the throttle, it just snapped. I am sure there is something wrong there.

"Hopefully, today was an off day," he added. "It didn't feel right. It was like flicking a switch in the race. Not the easiest, and it was like that from the word go. The first thirty laps were the scariest laps of my life."

A couple of weeks - and a day of in-season testing - later and the Briton admits that he might have allowed his emotions to get the better of him.

"As you might have noticed, I was very outspoken," he told reporters in Monaco today. "When emotions are running high you always exaggerate things.

"It was a tough race for me in Barcelona," he admitted. "But it was good to have the test three days later, also in Barcelona, to really put everything right.

"The car felt much nicer to drive, much more consistent, especially on the long-run pace. We also had some new parts to test for this season, but also specifically for here. It was a good test."

Claims that in the wake of changes to the MP4-30's livery, Jenson is to be issued with a different style of overall, the bottom half of which will incorporate a brown corduroy look, have been denied.
