Unlike Barcelona, there is no official lunch break at Jerez, which means the teams can continue running from 09:00 to 17:00.
Nonetheless, as most of the teams take a quick break after the opening four hours of running, Sebastian Vettel continues to head the timesheets.
As was the case yesterday however, it is Mercedes that impresses, Lewis Hamilton continuing to rack up the miles, his Mercedes never missing a beat.
Though Lotus claimed it was unlikely to get any serious running in until Tuesday, Pastor Maldonado headed out of his garage just 80 minutes after the lights went green this morning, the Enstone crew having worked through the night to build the Lotus following its arrival from HQ.
It's been another difficult morning for McLaren, Jenson Button completing just 5 laps, the best over 33s off the pace as the Woking team claims it is "chasing a recurring problem".
Problems also for Red Bull, which is either inept or massively over confident. Just a couple of laps into his session, Daniil Kvyat had a minor off, nonetheless he incurred significant damage to his front wing. Unfortunately the team doesn't have a spare in spain and is now in the process of flying one out from its Milton Keynes base.
The Russian was sent out for a few laps without a front wing, but is now unlikely to play any more part in the day's running until the spare arrives.
Sauber, which looked good yesterday, when Marcus Ericsson was on duty, continues to look good, Brazilian Felipe Nasr at the wheel today, whilst Max Verstappen is doing a good job in the Toro Rosso.
