Maurizio Arrivabene has confirmed that Jock Clear is to replace Pat Fry, even if a start date has yet to be agreed.
As previously reported, the British veteran is leaving championship winners Mercedes for Ferrari after 16 years at Brackley with BAR, Honda, Brawn and then its latest incarnation.
Clear told Mercedes of his intention to leave following the season finale in Abu Dhabi, the German team unable to offer him a role of similar standing to that on offer from its Maranello rivals.
With a year of his current contract still to run, the two teams are seeking a mutually agreeable deal.
"We respect agreements and regulations," Maurizio Arrivabene told reporters at the team's end of year lunch, confirming that the Briton will be replacing countryman Pat Fry.
At the same time however, the new team principal dismissed speculation that (Mercedes) former technical director Bob Bell, who left the Brackley outfit a year ago, is also to join Ferrari.
"The team is there," he said. "There is no great news to be announced, no surprises. We have to believe in the people we have."
