The replacement of the gravel trap at the Parabolica is the only significant change at Monza ahead of this weekend's Grand Prix.
According to the FIA, in order to "enhance safety, the inner half of the gravel trap at Parabolica has been replaced with an asphalt run-off".
However, sources at the circuit gave us a little more info.
"Whilst the design remains unchanged, the escape route has changed," confirmed a spokesperson. "The gravel in the external part has been replaced by asphalt; on the external kerb there is now a kerb and a "carpet" of synthetic grass between the track and the escape route.
"The change follows moves, not only at Monza, but at various circuits, where there are concerns that a minor mistake can mean the end of a driver's race. Now, drivers will try to brake even later aware that they can avoid excessive penalization should they get it wrong."
There are two DRS zones. The detection point for the first zone is 95m before Turn 7, with the activation point 210m after Turn 7, while the second detection point is 20m before Turn 11, with the activation point 115m after the finish line.
