McLaren source says talk of the team lining up a bid for Valtteri Bottas is "completely untrue".
On a day when it wasn't the stupidity of some of the questions being asked so much as the constant repetition of those same questions, Christian Horner and his fellow team bosses must have been longing for respite in the form of questions about Human Rights in Azerbaijan or whether F1 should still be heading to Russia in the wake of the MH17 atrocity.
Can you keep Sebastian, can you keep Lewis, can you keep Fernando, do you want to keep Kimi? Were followed by Do you want Sebastian, do you want Lewis, do you want Fernando and would you want Kimi?
On and on and on it went.
Some of the speculation was sillier than others, including talk of McLaren stalling on re-signing Jenson Button because it is lining up a bid for Williams superstar Valtteri Bottas, the author of the article clearly not following the line of Lewis, Sebastian, Fernando or Kimi joining Kevin Magnussen at Woking next year.
Ignoring the fact that Williams, currently very much on the rise, would even consider releasing its new Finnish star, we have to admit we did, somewhat sheepishly, put the idea to a very reliable source at Woking.
"This is completely untrue," was the instant response. "We are not after Bottas"
So what about Human Rights in Azerbaijan we asked...
