According to Nico Rosberg, Mercedes much trumpeted solution to the noise problem with F1 2014 didn't work.
As the debate over the sound of the new era of F1 continues, Mercedes tried a device fitted to its exhaust aimed at improving the situation. However, according to Nico Rosberg it didn't work.
In recent weeks fans have taken to social media with their 'artistic impressions' of how Mercedes might deal with the problem, the general consensus being that the German team would opt for a Vuvuzela type trumpet.
In the end the solution was nothing as radical, but even then it didn't work.
"We tried the new exhaust today," said Rosberg at the conclusion of the two-day test in Barcelona. "As a team we want to do good for the sport.
"Unfortunately though," he continued, laughing, "it wasn't a great solution, it didn't work. It didn't make it much louder. So we now have to look for another solution. We'll keep pushing."
