Ferrari has officially confirmed that former Lotus (and Renault) technical director, James Allison is to join the Maranello outfit.
A brief statement reads:
"Ferrari announces that, as from this coming 1st September, James Allison will join the Scuderia in the role of Chassis Technical Director.
At the same time, Pat Fry will take on the new position of Director of Engineering. Both men will report directly to the Team Principal of the Gestione Sportiva, Stefano Domenicalli."
It is the Englishman's second stint with the Maranello outfit having been 'aerodynamicist responsible for track operations' between 2000 and 2005.
Starting out with Benetton in 1991, Allison spent time with Larrousse before heading back to the Italian owned, former Toleman, outfit in 1994 as senior aerodynamic designer.
Following his time with Ferrari he returned to Enstone in 2005, first as deputy technical director before his promotion to the role of technical director in 2009.
