Bernie Ecclestone has insisted Kimi Raikkonen change his helmet after the 2007 world champion featured a tribute to James Hunt during Thursday practice.
Last year the Finn raced in a replica of Hunt's famous black helmet, though this year he has simply added the 1976 world champion’s name to the top of his existing design. It was clearly visible via on-board footage on Thursday, prompting Bernie Ecclestone to have words.
Also in Monaco this weekend is film director Ron Howard, who is prompting his film Rush – based on the 1976 Formula One season and in particular the epic, season long, duel between Hunt and Niki Lauda..
It's not known exactly what Ecclestone's complaint over Raikkonen's helmet is, whether it is related to the pending release of the Rush movie, but Raikkonen neatly sidestepped the issue by placing black tape over the top of the tribute.
There's been no news over whether Jean-Eric Vergne, who is sporting a replica of countryman Francois Cevert's helmet, will be required to do the same.
