Niki Lauda has attempted to play down speculation that McLaren's former Technical Director, Paddy Lowe, is to join Mercedes as the end of the year.
Weeks of speculation over Lowe's future appeared to reach fever pitch today, first with the Guardian claiming that the move to Mercedes has already been agreed, followed by an announcement from McLaren that Tim Goss is to fill his position as Technical Director with immediate effect.
The speculation over Lowe's destination also raises a question mark over Ross Brawn's future with the German team however, speaking tonight in London the Austrian attempted to play down the situation.
"I cannot officially say anything," Lauda told Reuters at the Motorsport Hall of Fame, "McLaren put him on 'gardening leave' so let's wait and see."
While unable to give an insight into Lowe's future, the Austrian was a little more forthcoming in terms of Brawn. "What I want to make clear is that Ross is not even discussed," he said. "If Paddy Lowe is coming or not, I cannot tell you now... but there is peace. Ross is in his position and will stay in his position. Everything is under control."
