As expected, rain has hit the Circuit de Catalunya for the final day of the second pre-season test, Felipe Massa, 'enjoying' his first stint in the F138 this week, an early victim of the conditions.
On his first proper run of the morning Massa spun off at T4, bringing out the red flags while the car was recovered from the gravel. On its arrival back at the pits the car was found to be completely unscathed, though team members worked hard to keep prying eyes at bay (above).
As conditions worsened Van der Garde went off track, bringing out the second red flag of the morning, followed by Esteban Gutierrez, while Mark Webber parked his Red Bull between Turns 9 and 10.
After ninety minutes of running, Jenson Button, with 17 laps completed, tops the timesheets with a 1:37.949, ahead of Hamilton, Gutierrez, Massa, Grosjean, Bianchi and Van der Garde.
As Marussia confirmed yesterday, Max Chilton is enjoying his fourth day in the MR02. However, paddock speculation suggests that this is not so much about "consistency" but more about the fact that Luiz Razia has not come up with the necessary funding.
