The mayor of Moscow claims that Russia's first Grand Prix will take place in November next year, despite claims that construction work is behind schedule.
The race is due to be held in Sochi, which at the beginning of the year (February) will host the Winter Olympics. Due to fears that the circuit and its facilities would not be ready in time it had been said that the race would be delayed until 2015, not so says the mayor, Anatoly Pakhomov.
"It will be held in November, after the Olympics," he told reporters in Moscow earlier today.
Referring to claims that work on the circuit had stopped, he added: "The circuit's construction is being closely monitored by the regional government. Everything is going according to plan. If we had any problems we would have asked for help from other regions."
