Caterham and Marussia's record pointless streak

Two teams will start today's Belgian Grand Prix with an unenviable record to their names; after fifty Grand Prix starts both Caterham and Marussia are yet to score a world championship point.

It's the longest pointless start to a Formula One career for any team in its sixty-two year history.

Debuting at the 2010 Bahrain Grand Prix as Lotus Racing and Virgin respectively, both teams joined Formula One when cost cutting regulations were set to be introduced.

Since those regulations were scrapped - without ever being introduced - they've been left to fight for their place in the sport on equal terms with established teams like Sauber and Force India.

Interestingly Midland, one of Force India's prior incarnations, is also near the top of the list. Existing for just one season in 2006 the squad failed to score a point in any of its 18 races. Also on the list is Simtek (20 races without a point), Pacific (22), Spirit and Forti (23 apiece) and RAM (31).

With fifty races to their names Caterham and Marussia beat HRT by two races; the Spanish squad having failed to qualify for the Australian Grand Prix in both 2011 and 2012.
