The FIA has confirmed that the DRS detection and activation zones at Silverstone this weekend will be the same as in 2011, with detection shortly before Village (Turn 3) and activation after The Loop (Turn 4) and along the Wellington Straight leading to Brooklands (Turn 6).
Following the massive modifications to the track, culminating in the introduction of a new 'Arena' layout, including a new infield loop between Abbey and Brooklands in 2010 and the new pit and paddock complex in 2011, relatively little has changed since last year's race other than the fact that the pit entry has been straightened and the pit lane speed limit begins 50 metres earlier.
The stewards this weekend include 1992 world champion Nigel Mansell, a three time Grand Prix winner here.
Other than his F1 success, Mansell, who drove for 187 Grands Prix for Lotus, Williams, Ferrari and McLaren, and winning 31 of them, became the first rookie to win the CART championship and the only man to hold the F1 and CART titles simultaneously.
Paul Gutjahr, President of the FIA Hill climb Commission, Board Members and President of Auto Sport Suisse SARL, and Paolo Longoni, member of the Italian Motor Sport commission (CSAI), the Automobile Club of Milan.
