The FIA has confirmed that, unlike 2011, there will be just one DRS zone at this weekend's European Grand Prix.
Last season, the detection zone was shortly before Turn 8, with one activation zone just after Turn 10 and the other after Turn 14. This year only the zone after Turn 10 will be used.
Since last year's race areas of artificial grass have been laid around several sections of the circuit and replaced with a more durable product. This follows problems last year, with the synthetic turf becoming detached from the surface to which it was glued.
The stewards include Emanuele Pirro, who, other than 37 Grands Prix between 1989 and 1991 with Benetton and Scuderia Italia, achieved huge success in sports car racing, with five Le Mans wins, victory at the Daytona 24 Hours and two wins at the Sebring 12 Hours. In addition, he has won the German and Italian Touring Car championships (the latter twice) and has twice been American Le Mans Series Champion.
He is joined by Garry Connelly, deputy president, FIA Institute, Director, Australian Institute of Motor sport Safety, F1 and WTCC Steward, FIA World Motor Sport Council. Paolo London, Member of the Italian Motor Sport Commission (CSAI), the Automobile Club of Milan.
