Robert Kubica is reported to have driven a Skoda Fabia rally car in Italy, as the Pole continues his recovery process following last year's near fatal accident.
Despite Jaime Alguersuari's claim earlier in the week that the Pole is unable to even hold a glass to drink from, such is the lack of grip in his right hand, the Pole is said to have got behind the wheel of the Skoda Fabia Rovegno in Genoa. Furthermore, it is understood that this is not the first time the former BMW and Renault star has driven the car.
It's ironic that the popular driver chose a rally car since it was in a rally (Ronde di Andora) that he almost lost his life just over a year ago.
Details are sketchy at this stage but it is understood Kubica drove the Skoda over a week ago, which might explain the lack of reaction to Alguersuari's worrying comments.
Prior to the Spaniard's claim, the Pole was understood to be making good progress until he slipped on ice in January, breaking the same leg he broke in last year's accident.
With less than a week to go before Melbourne, this is the best possible news for the sport.
