Mercedes has confirmed that its 2012 contender, the MGP WO3, will be unveiled at Barcelona next Tuesday.
The Brackley-based outfit's new car will be unveiled by drivers Michael Schumacher and Nico Rosberg early in the morning, shortly before the second pre-season test gets underway.
The German manufacturer, which opted to run its 2011 car in Jerez, where it was quickest on two of the three days it ran, will allow Schumacher to complete the first laps in the new car before handing over to teammate Rosberg who will get his hands on the car on Wednesday. Schumacher is back in the car on Thursday with Rosberg back in the cockpit for the final day of the first of two tests at the Catalunya circuit before the season kicks off in Melbourne on March 16.
Fourth for the last two seasons, Mercedes needs to make a significant step forward this season, especially with Lotus expected to be stronger than in 2011.
