Adrian Sutil is to appeal his recent conviction for causing bodily harm to Lotus F1 team co-owner Eric Lux.
Last week, the German youngster was handed an 18-month suspended sentence and 200,000 euro fine after being found guilty of assaulting Lux in a Shanghai nightclub following last year's Chinese Grand Prix.
However, speaking to the German media, Sutil's manager, Manfred Zimmermann, has said the former Force India driver will appeal the Munich court's decision, claiming the judgement is not appropriate.
Meanwhile, a spokeswoman for the court has admitted that the public prosecutor was in fact seeking a 21-month sentence and 300,000 euro fine.
The appeal hearing will take place in Munich again, though a date has yet to be set.
Having been unable to attend the original trial, a move which caused Sutil and his father to brand him a "coward" and "pathetic", Lewis Hamilton may well be called to give evidence at the appeal.
