It was clear on Monday afternoon that Karun Chandhok would not be participating in Sunday's inaugural Indian Grand Prix.
At 14:00 ESPN issued a press release detailing its coverage of the race, including details of a mobile app and fantasy game. The release also promised "minute by minute updates and a real time review of the race by Karun Chandok".
So, unless Karun was going to have even more buttons to press and knobs to twist than usual, it was clear the Indian would not be taking part long before Lotus made its announcement.
