The doctor overseeing Robert Kubica's rehabilitation process says it will be months before the Pole is capable of returning to F1.
Ever since Kubica's horrendous crash during a rally in February there have been conflicting reports as to when, indeed if, he will return to the cockpit. While the Interlagos return mooted by his manager Daniel Morelli is now out of the question and Eric Boullier has extended the deadline by which time a decision needs to be made, the Pole's doctor insists that though there is great progress it will be months before a return can be contemplated.
"Our goal is to get him back in F1," Dr Riccardo Ceccarelli told Italy's Lucca television. "But he will still need a few more months of rehabilitation.
"The cuts were so bad that many colleagues and specialists had ruled out a return to the wheel," he admitted. "But, clinically, little by little everything has improved and the hope to see him driving as soon as 2012 is becoming more and more concrete."
