It took four months to produce but finally the narrated preview for the Santander British Grand Prix is ready.
Just days ahead of the ninth round of a thrilling season, we are delighted to bring you the preview for the Santander British Grand Prix through the eyes of McLaren's world champions Lewis Hamilton and Jenson Button.
Drawing inspiration from the likes of Tron, 'The Silverstone Chase' features 3D action simulation footage and a unique 'fly-through' of the new Silverstone grand prix circuit.
The movie, which required over 11,000 frames to be rendered, also required the use of a 50-machine 'render farm'.
The total number of frames rendered was 11,248; the total number of files created was 17,551; total number of 441 folders with a combined project
volume of over 400GB.
The final stage in the digital process was compositing and grading, this is where all the rendered and animated elements, such as, colour, tone, 2D graphics were brought together and composited into a final polished sequence.
The film has over 65 shots ranging from live action footage to intricately animated in-car point of view shots which needed to be individually composited before it was ready to be included in the final edit. A typical composite can take up to a day to complete.
The video has been produced by Sidhu and Simon Communications as part of Santander's build-up to the 2011 British Grand Prix. The London-based agency has recently produced some really impressive digital and social media output including a new Facebook page featuring Lewis and Jenson.
