Canadian GP winner Jenson Button says that signing a long-term contract would not make sense.

In the wake of recent long-term contracts signed by Fernando Alonso and Sebastian Vettel, some might think that 31-year-old Button might seek a similar deal with McLaren. Not so, insists the Englishman.

"For me, it makes no sense to sign a long-term contract," he told Blick. "I don't know how I'm going to feel in a few years. I can't imagine racing at 40, I just want to race for as long as I can win.

"I've not had any calls about my future," he added, "McLaren has an option on me for next year, that's all I know. Many of my colleagues don't hesitate to secure for the long term, but I like it when my future is open."

Still bubbling after his surprise Montreal win, Button admits that he still hasn't got over his equally surprising title win in 2009, when, with the brand new Brawn outfit, he dominated the first half of the season.

"It still feels like yesterday," he said, "and it will even when I'm old and grey. If I didn't win any more championships I definitely wouldn't leave Formula One thinking that I've missed something.

"But the hunger for victory doesn't disappear so easily," he continued. "I will stop when I'm bored of going around in circles, or if I'm not fast enough."
