The FIA has confirmed that at this weekend's Spanish Grand Prix, drivers will be able to activate their movable rear wings (DRS) on the main pit straight.
The DRS detection zone is on the approach to the final right hander (Turn 16) that leads on to the pit straight, with the activation zone beginning as the cars cross the start/finish line. At 830 meters, this makes the activation zone the longest we have witnessed this season.
Drivers are only allowed to use the movable rear wing if they are within one second of the car ahead at the designated line going into the zone.
The FIA ha also confirmed a number of changes at the Circuit de Catalunya.
All gravel traps have been checked to ensure no stones greater than 15mm in diameter, with a large quantity of new gravel laid. An extra tyre row and conveyor belt installed in front of existing tyre barrier on the right after turn 9 and the barrier extended. A new higher kerb at exit of turn 7 and the apex to turn 8 and 'bumps' installed behind turn 15 apex kerb, similar to those behind the Turn 2 apex. Also, worn artificial grass will be replaced immediately before the Grand Prix
