Robert Kubica has been charged from hospital, ten weeks after the horrific crash which almost claimed his life.

In a brief statement, the Santa Corona Hospital in Pietra Ligure, confirmed that the Polish F1 star was discharged on Saturday evening.

"Robert Kubica is no longer at the Santa Corona hospital," it read. "His condition is good and the driver will now be able to start a new phase of his rehabilitation. He will continue to be monitored by the Santa Corona doctors who had him in their care through scheduled appointments."

The news comes just days after the Renault driver, in his first interview since the accident on 6 February, revealed that movement in his right hand remains "limited".

"This is pretty normal in this kind of situation because the connected arm muscles are still very weak due to the long period of immobility," he said. "But things are definitely improving day by day."

Earlier this month we reported that the Pole has been invited by Cardinal Stanislaw Dziwisz to attend the beatification ceremony of John Paul II, which takes place in Rome on 1 May.

Needless to say, Pitpass and its readers are delighted to hear that Robert continues to make good progress.
