Mercedes boss Ross Brawn concedes that his team and others may need to copy Red Bull if they are to stand any chance of taking on the Austrian team.

His comments come at a time when the RB7's front wing continues to cause speculation up and down the pitlane. Despite widespread murmuring over its legality, it has been fully approved by the FIA leaving Brawn and others to ponder the idea of copying the Austrian outfit.

"There's a regulation which says that the bodywork should be rigid," he told reporters in Sepang. "We all know that's impossible because everything moves. It's a question of degrees, so the FIA has a series of tests to measure the degree to which bodywork moves and, as long as you pass those tests, then your car is to all intents and purposes legal.

"There's a new test this year," he continued. "Red Bull obviously passed it so that's all there is to say about it. They've got a philosophy for their car and approach and teams have to decide if that's the reason - or one of the reasons - for their level of performance. If it is, then you need to consider going that route yourself - or make sure it's not an excuse for the fact they're winning everything at the moment."
