2010 world championship runner-up Fernando Alonso says his first impressions of the car with which he will challenge for the 2011 title are good.
"I have a good impression of the car," said the Spaniard at this morning's unveiling of the new car. "I will feel more confident with this car, more comfortable, it will be more predictable. I know the team now.
"The first sensations are less important than ever," he added. "Driving is more difficult yes, when you take a road car or a GT maybe you enjoy yourself more. F1 is more technical."
About to begin preparations for his second season with the legendary Maranello outfit, the Spaniard added: "At this presentation we have seen the potential of Ferrari, we are the only team that can do a launch like this."
However, other than the new car, the other talking point this morning was Alonso's beard, the Spaniard shedding his Dolmio look in favour of a Monty Python Spanish inquisition-style goatee. Asked if he will be retaining the beard, he laughed and replied: "I don't think so. My mother doesn't want it."
