Force India has announced that it is to hold a press conference in Glasgow on Wednesday, prompting speculation that the team will use the occasion to confirm the signing of Paul di Resta.
The 24-year-old, cousin of Indy Car star Dario Franchitti, comes from Bathgate in West Lothian, however, in terms of access and suitable venues, making such an announcement in Glasgow would appear to be the best option.
While di Resta, who won the German Touring Car (DTM) championship last year, has been linked with the second seat for some time, having made a number of appearances during Friday morning practice sessions throughout 2010, the situatoin has been complicated by the fact that Tonio Liuzzi has a contract with the Silverstone-based outfit for this season.
If di Resta, does get the Force India drive, it will mean that there will be three British drivers on the grid in Bahrain.
Having lost his seat at Williams, it is understood that Nico Hulkenberg is hoping for the test and reserve role with the Silverstone-based team one of whose sponsors is the drinks company Whyte & Mackay which is owned by the United Breweries Group, like Force India, part of Vijay Mallya's vast commercial empire.
