Yet to announce a launch date for its new car, or its full driver line-up, Hispania has announced that it has recruited a "vehicle concept designer" as it seeks a new corporate image.
The press release issued this afternoon reads as follows:
World renowned vehicle concept designer and visionary illustrator Daniel Simon has reached agreement with Hispania Racing, to create a dynamic new corporate image for the Spanish team as it enters it' second season in the FIA Formula One World Championship.
The brilliant young German designer shot to prominence as the author of the visionary automotive design book "Cosmic Motors", which propelled him to become one of Hollywood's leading and most sought after vehicle designers.
As a vehicle concept designer and automotive futurist, he has earned acclaim from both the automotive industry, working with companies such as Bugatti and Honda, and Hollywood, working with directors such as Ridley Scott and others on major feature films, including Walt Disney Pictures' high-tech adventure "TRON: Legacy".
The Hispania Racing first formula one season produced many challenges which tested the team's determination and imagination, qualities that resonated with Daniel Simon, "Being offered a blank canvas by the Hispania Racing and with it the opportunity to bring to life elements of 'Cosmic Motors', was something I just couldn't pass up. It's going to be an exciting journey as Hispania Racing evolves and grows and I'm looking forward to the challenge of creating a strong visual statement for the team."
In the opinion of Colin Kolles, Hispania Racing Team Principal, "recruiting Daniel Simon to be in charge of designing the new corporate image of the team is great news for everyone. Trying to find words to describe him would be simply to understate his achievements on Hollywood blockbusters. Hispania Racing is growing step by step, and this improvement is becoming a reality with the signing of exceptional professionals in different areas, as is the case with Daniel. Formula One has always been on the cutting-edge and leading technology and the latest trends, and Danielīs futuristic ideas will provide the touch of nerve and innovation we all want to see in this sport."
British TV's Top Gear programme probably coined the best description of Daniel's range of skills, "It's like putting Barbarella, James Bond, Star Wars and an F1 car in a blender".
